Centralized College Internship Program
 
The Centralized College Internship Program (CCIP) is a Mayoral initiative designed to bring the best and brightest to the District’s workforce by attracting, recruiting, and retaining undergraduate and graduate students.
 
CCIP is a six-week program that will offer summer positions (40 hours each week) to undergraduate and graduate students. The program promotes leadership in undergraduate and graduate students who want hands-on public policy municipal government experience. Summer interns will also participate in professional development and roundtable seminars with senior government officials.
 
Eligibility
  1. Undergraduates must have completed their sophomore year before the program begins, with a 2.5 GPA
  2. Graduates must have a 3.0 GPA
  3. Must be currently enrolled and in good standing at an accredited college or university at the time of the internship.
  4. College seniors must be enrolled in a graduate program beginning the fall after this summer internship. Proof of enrollment (letter of acceptance) will be required if accepted in this program.
Salary Requirements: This is a paid internship ($7.25/hour).
 
Internship Start Date
 
Interns will begin their service on June 7, 2010 and end on July 16, 2010. Interns will be selected through a competitive application process.
 
Centralized College Internship Program 2010 Application Timeline

March 12 - 17, 2010 Interview Notification Date – applicants will be informed via e-mail if they have been selected for an interview
March 22 - 30, 2010 Interviews – applicants will be scheduled for a face-to-face or  telephone interview        
April 16, 2010     Selection Notification Date – applicants will be informed via e-mail if they have been selected
June 7, 2010 Start Date – official start date for the Centralized College Internship Program.  If you have been selected, this date is not negotiable

Application and Selection Process
Candidates are selected through a competitive application process.  Applicants must: 
  • Complete the District’s online job application form during the recruitment period (January 11 – March 1, 2010). The District online application is available from at dchr.dc.gov

    Follow the following steps to apply:
    • A new screen will appear that says "Applicant Home."
    • Click on the link that reads “View Job Postings/Apply for Job.” 
    • Look for the position titled "Centralized College Internship Program." The reference/vacancy announcement number is 15407. 
    • Click on the position title, and then click on the yellow box that says "Apply for this Job."
      Save your work frequently.
    • Complete your "Ranking Factors" or essay questions in Microsoft Word first; then cut and paste your response online. 
    • If you experience difficulty with the application, please dial 202-727-1523.
  • Submit an official transcript and two letters of recommendation before March 1, 2010 to the Centralized College Internship Program (see below for the address)

  • Participate in an interview session (March 20 – 30, 2010).
Candidates are evaluated on their academic records, work experience, and interview.  Preference will be given to students that are interested in a future career with the District government.
