High School Intern Program
 
NOTE: The Spring 2008 application deadline has passed. Please visit this site in August for the Fall 2008 application. 
 
The High School Intern Program (HSIP) is a mayoral initiative designed to promote leadership and development in junior and senior high school students attending DC public high schools. The HSIP is a comprehensive staff-to-student mentoring program that connects students with DC government agencies and employees who can advise, coach, and guide them, as well as provide meaningful work-related experiences.
 
For the inaugural program commencing on March 31, 2008, only 11th grade students will be accepted from the following high schools:
  • Anacostia Senior High School
  • Ballou Senior High School
  • Cardozo Senior High School
  • McKinley Technology High School
  • Roosevelt Senior High School
  • W. Wilson Senior High School
Students are selected by their high school principal or designee from two distinct groups (best and brightest and at-risk).

March 31, 2008 through August 15, 2008
     
High School Intern Program 2008 Application Timeline
 
February 22, 2008                Application Deadline
February 26, 2008                Interview Notification Date -- Applicants will be informed if they 
                                          have been selected for an interview
February 28-29, 2008           Interviews -- Applicants will be scheduled for a face-to-face interview.
March 4-5, 2008                  Selection Notification Date -- Applicants will be informed if they 
                                          have been selected.
March 31, 2008                   Start Date -- Official start date for the High School Intern Program. 
                                          If you have been selected, this date is not negotiable.
