Hire Green 

Hire Green is a DC Department of Human Resources (DCHR) initiative to   develop and promote more streamlined and environmentally friendly operations.

DCHR is committed to incorporating efficiency and conservation into all its operations as it fulfils its mandate “to attract, develop and retain a well-qualified, diverse workforce.” To codify commitment, DCHR has adopted new “eTools” designed to significantly reduce paper usage and eliminate waste from its daily business practices. These new tools are part of the larger Hire Green initiative.

DCHR, in partnership with the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO), will launch the eTime and eRecruit modules of the PeopleSoft system to provide District employees and DCHR staff paperless recruitment and payroll processing tools that are faster and more convenient that current methods. 

eRecruit

The eRecruit module reduces the time it takes to hire a new employee.  It can process job requisitions, applications, job offers, and provides a more systematic routing and approval process for the human resources hiring staff.

eTime

The eTime module allows all employees with a PeopleSoft login ID and password to enter their own hours worked each pay period.  This eliminates the need for paper time sheets.  By providing one detailed report, employees are able to devote more time to their core responsibilities instead of chasing paper and signature deadlines.

ESS

DCHR is also promoting the Employee Self Service system. ESS provides District employees online access to their personal and benefits information. It is the fastest and most convenient way to check, update and manage employee records, personal data, and benefit selections.

FileNet

In addition to the eTools, DCHR continues work on FileNet, a file conversion project designed to convert traditional paper official personnel files (OPFs) into electronic documents.
